VRBO Placencia Belize

"We arrived at the Belize airport early in the morning on Nov 28. We were met by Raul (Agami Tours) who drove us to Placencia. The trip took 4 hours but we stopped for groceries in Belize City, looked at some of the sites and stopped at several roadside vendors (bananas, pineapples, star fruit, etc). Raul is full of local information and kept us entered all along the way. Yes, it is much faster to fly from Belize city to Placencia, but you will miss out on much of the other perks of traveling with Raul. I should add that if you arrive in Belize City after 2 PM or so, you may want to stay in a local B&B in town, then drive down in the morning so you can see the sights. Raul will pick you up at the airport, drop you off and then come and get you in the morning for the drive. It is very civilized :-) Check with the owner, Sharene, about this. One of the greatest assets of this condo is Sharene. Yes, it is a beautiful place with all of the amenities that could be asked for. However, Sharene goes out of her way to be helpful. There were no surprises, hidden problems or hassles. She gave us all the info we needed to make the trip smooth as silk. The bedrooms and living room have A/C but it is never needed since there are lovely doors that open up to the gentle tropical breezes. On one side is the Caribbean Sea, on the other side is the canal with the coastal mountains in the background. The kitchen if fully stocked with all the cooking and eating equipment needed even for the most demanding chef. Seriously, there are fancy wine glasses, a salad spinner, lots of spices – some I’ve never heard of, a four-slot toaster, and much more. The mattresses on both queen beds are perfect. We haven’t slept so well in months! We enjoyed swimming in the pool, going on tours and outings or just hanging out in the living room listening to the waves lapping on the shore outside. Our favorite activities are scuba/snorkel (SeaHorse Dive Shop) and the famous Monkey River Tour (Alfred was the best! - see Francisco the caretaker for info). We also enjoyed walking into the village for fresh fruit & veggies from the local vendors or groceries from the small mom & pop stores here. There are no Walmarts (thank goodness) LOL. The local people here are very friendly and, unlike places we’ve been to in Mexico, they seem to take good care of their pets.If you are looking for a quiet beautiful slice of a relaxing paradise, this perfectly fits the bill."
