Belize City Hostels

Belize City is the former capital and largest city of Belize, located midway up the country on the Caribbean coast. Although the population is small (a mere seventy thousand residents), the city caries the feel, amenities, and atmosphere of a Caribbean capital such as Kingston, Jamaica, or Georgetown, Guyana. With its blend of Creole, English, Spanish, and Mayan influences, Belize has a very unique and interesting culture, food, dance, and music. Belize City is easy to get to by air, land, and sea. The airport is easily accessible by a short cab ride from either the downtown core, bus station, or the ferry terminal. Buses go to and from the city with international destinations such as Cancun; Mexico; or Antigua, Guatemala. Local buses are a cheap and exciting way to get to smaller communities. The ferry terminal offers quick shuttles to touristy islands such as San Pedro, Caye Caulker, and Placencia.

Belize City hostels are located downtown and are within walking distance to all the sights, shops, and amenities that a visitor may need. Attractions such as the swinging bridge, the Maritime museum, the museum of Belize, or the casino offer tourists an exciting look at the culture and entertainment this place has to offer. Although the city is rather safe during the day, robberies are common at night - don't travel by yourself or walk alone from place to place. Belize City offers an excellent jump off point to your travels.
